FAQ
Is it really a one-time payment?add
Yes. You pay once and own the license forever.
There are no subscription fees, no annual
renewals, and no “maintenance”
charges. Future updates are included.
What counts as a domain?add
A root domain —
yoursite.com — and all its
subdomains (www.yoursite.com,
shop.yoursite.com, etc.) count as
one domain. Each distinct root domain requires
one license slot.
Can I move my license to a different domain?add
Domain transfers are handled via support.
Contact us with your license key and the old and
new domain — we’ll move it for you.
I run a website builder — my clients each get their own site. What plan do I need?add
Sitecake licenses are per-domain and cover your
own use of the software. If you are building a
platform where multiple end clients receive
websites as a service — on subdomains,
separate domains, or any other setup —
each client site is a separate commercial use. A
Single Site or Agency license does not cover
this; you need an Unlimited license.
See the Terms of Service
for the full permitted-use policy.
What happens if I don’t have a license on a live site?add
Without a license, the editor login is blocked.
The site itself remains fully functional for
visitors — only the editing interface is
gated.
Does the free version have any limitations?add
No feature limitations — the free version
is the full product. The only restriction is
that it works on local / private-network
addresses. Pointing a free install at a real
public domain blocks the editor login until a
license is activated.
What is white-labeling?add
White-label installs use
admin.php as the entry point
instead of sitecake.php, and a
custom logo / brand name can be set in the
editor config. Clients see your agency’s
branding, not Sitecake’s.
Do auto-updates require internet access on the server?add
Yes. The auto-update system contacts the update
server to verify integrity and issue a download
token before fetching the new version. Servers
without outbound internet access will need to
update manually by replacing the
sitecake/ directory.
What payment methods do you accept?add
Credit card, PayPal, and most local payment
methods, via Paddle. For Agency / Unlimited
orders, bank transfer is also available on
request.
What if Sitecake isn’t right for me?add
Email us within 30 days and we’ll refund
you in full, no questions asked. See the
refund policy.
