Sitecake Roadmap

#1

This is road map as we see it today

v2.x

  • Page Manger (clone pages, delete pages, reorder menu items, on page SEO)
  • snippets (create custom HTML snippets and add them as drag and drop content items on toolbar)

v3.x

  • completely rewritten client side, switch from GWT to Javascript
  • opening for third party plugins
  • slideshow/gallery content item
  • table content item
  • Layout Manager (drag and drop page builder form pre-designed modules)

Plan is to set up a public Trello board where everybody will be able to add and upvote features. We will develop features based on this Trello board. I will put this on the website and post link to the board here and on the website.

Looking great! What is the expected time-window?

Looking at “snippets”: if I’m not mistaken would that mean users can add more ‘complicated’ predefined HTML from the toolbar, if predefined by the administrator? If so will these also allow for user input? For example, I have a standard HTML snippet for expanding text, with a [header] and [content] (variables)… could users add the expander via the toolbar and then themselves add the header and content variables?

#6

Exactly! Snippet can be any HTML, PHP, Javascript, with or without editable sections. You can even put Googe Analytics code or something similar…

Excellent idea!

The page manager alone will push Sitecake into the lime light. Once to V3 and those features implemented will certainly be a major player.

Suggestions:

  • edit alt attribute img
  • lightbox img
  • replace image
  • disables the ability to remove an item, only edit or replace

#9
  • replace background image

#10

ESSENTIAL to have:

  • image gallery
  • ability to edit/manage/delete/add sublevel menu items
  • fully removal of SC branding in whitelabel version
  • recurring (duplicating existing) blocks e.g. for creating ‘news’

VERY NICE to have:

  • rights management for different editors
  • better multilanguage-ability
  • snippets (create custom HTML snippets and add them as drag and drop content items on toolbar)
  • Layout Manager (drag and drop page builder form pre-designed modules)
  • edit alt attribute img
  • disables the ability to remove an item, only edit or replace
  • replace background image
